Hello everyone!
I hope you’ll enjoy this virtual Open Studio visit.
We’re sad we won't see you in person this year, but please know that you are here in spirit!
I’m so grateful for you and your support. It means the world to me.
So grab a nice beverage, sit back, and enjoy a walk through our little corner of the world.
Let's start with a walk through the garden. This is what I love most about our open studio days. Visitors can look at our garden which provides so much inspiration to me and my work. I try to garden as naturally and sustainably as possible to create a habitat for native plants & pollinators in our area. The path down to the studio is a small but comforting slice of nature.
Now for a studio tour.
We live in a residential neighborhood with a walk-out basement. We're pretty lucky to fit two 18ft tables down there. We do all our of printing in house, from burning screens to reclaiming screens, to mixing ink.
Here's a look our process for preparing screens.
It's time to print! Here's a quick video of me and Lizzie in action. Lizzie is my studio helper, sweet friend, and the amazing woman behind The Small Circle.
Here's how I go from a drawing to a printed textile.
This video shows me putting together our mini bundles. Anytime we cut fabrics for SPT or Maisilene, we organize the remnants by color. Once I have an assortment, I gather them together into mini bundles!
And finally, here's me working on our 2021 calendars. You can find these for sale in our Maisilene shop.
Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to grab a piece of pound cake or a cookie, and some hot cider on the way out. :)
