Our print assistant, studio helper, precision sewist, meal planning guru, budding horticulturalist and style maven Lizzie has completed a new quilt and I wanted to share it here for safe keeping.
Lizzie assembled this quilt improv style, inspired by the works and teachings of Sherri Lynn Wood and her freeing book, The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters.
Most of the printed fabrics Lizzie used are bits and pieces from our collection. My jaw trembles a bit because of the beautiful job she did piecing them together.
It's easy to see the love that went into the making of this quilt. Lizzie says her family’s birthday months are in there (from our past tea towel calendars) and gardening and reading imagery and the 'heart open' words are all her favorite things.
Lizzie also runs her own small biz, The Small Circle, where she curates a beautiful selection of organic cotton bias binding and hand crafted pincushions for your sewing projects. Lately she’s had some very well deserved press- from being mentioned on The Love to Sew Podcast and Quilters Candy Blog.
If you're curious about what the heck bias binding is - check out her recent video tutorial where Lizzie explains how to apply bias binding to a quilt. (Bonus, you get to see her lovely sewing setup!)
Head over to Lizzie's shop and look around her beautiful wares. She is generously offering 20% off your first online order when you sign up for her monthly newsletter.

Sara
